Many incoming college students struggle to adjust to their new academic environment. Perhaps the workload is greater than they have previously experienced or perhaps they are not academically prepared for the rigors of college. Since the ability to incorporate higher-order critical thinking skills does not fit into today’s “teach-the-test” educational philosophy, most students arrive on today’s college campuses woefully unprepared for the challenge of thought. Educators need a systematic, yet individualized approach to the development and/or enhancement of higher-order critical thinking skills for incoming freshmen.
The FlexTIM™ Critical Thinking Curriculum has been designed by and for educators for use in academic support programs that provide services to a broad range of students – from varied educational backgrounds. Via classrooms, computer laboratories, and student study groups, the FlexTIM™ Critical Thinking Curriculum helps students struggle less and progress more readily toward academic and career success.
